RV Fiberglass Repairs often require further investigation!

We often times come across RV fiberglass repair that goes beyond the surface, where water damage and black mold can be hiding!  It’s always best to inspect for the cause of the fiberglass bubble by removing the side panel.

We carefully removed the fiberglass side panel so we can save the cost of a new skin and 4 color paint job!  Now, you can see that the bonded Luan has separated fiberglass panel due to glue and wood rot.

The next step is to scrape all the bad wood from the fiberglass panel.  We also will need to carve out all of the foam on the coach while preserving the back side wood of the interior panels.  Sometimes the wood rot is so bad, that we need to replace interior wallpapered panels.  This is not a problem for us!

We will replace the inner insulation with front and back aluminum covering so the glue will stick.  You cannot glue the panel back to bare foam is it will melt the foam and not stick!  The aluminum covering works very well with glue!

The root cause of this was leaking skylight that’s just above the shower!  The water ran into the ceiling, down the walls, and created a mess.
